Originally a mining town, Aspen began attracting recreational skiers after the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Comprised of four mountains – Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass, all accessible on the one lift pass, Aspen is one of the largest combined ski areas in North America. The four ski areas, the town of Aspen and Snowmass Village are connected by a convenient and free shuttle, running from 6:15am until 2:15am. When the day is done head to Ajax Tavern, the iconic après ski spot at the base of the Silver Queen Gondola. The Victorian style of this town will charm you with hundreds of shops to choose from.
