With 2500 acres of ridable terrain including five distinct and legendary bowls that sit above tree-lined trails, and a newly opened area that widened the whole ski area, if you want to make powder tracks, then you should head to Fernie! Experts can disappear into extensive glades, drops, big ridges, chutes and making turns through fresh powder, while intermediates can get a feel for off-piste and gladed terrain. The main township of Fernie is just five kilometres away from the resort and there is also a choice of on-mountain lodges and condominiums. The town is quaint and calm with a great choice of restaurants and bars.
Located in the rugged Jasper National Park, just 20 minutes from the town of Jasper, Marmot Basin offers 1720 acres of varied terrain and wonderful, dry snow. Large snow-filled bowls are a paradise for powder lovers of all abilities, while the advanced skiers and riders will love the “Tres Hombres” – a powder-filled, tree-less bowl with black and double black runs. Marmot Basin has three main lodge buildings, one located at the base area and two at the mid-mountain area, which means everything you need for a great day is conveniently located on-hill. Located in the heart of the Selkirk and the Monashee mountain region, Revelstoke is only two hours’ drive from Kelowna, BC. For decades, helicopter and cat skiers from around the world have flocked to Revelstoke, drawn to its perfect powder, varied alpine terrain and quaint mountain community. Revelstoke really is an amazing mountain destination for advanced skiers and snowboarders with 1713 metres of vertical lift access terrain, 3121 acres of fall line skiing and two high alpine bowls. For those just starting out, there are beginner slopes at the base of the mountain and a new lift has opened up speedy access to the ‘Ripper’ zone with easier runs ideal for beginners and intermediates. The town of Revelstoke is only a five minute drive from the mountain base and has a mix of vibrant shops, restaurants, cosy pubs and lounges.
Red Mountain Resort is nestled deep in the heart of the Kootenay Mountains of South-Eastern BC. 360 degree skiing off the top of each peak means you’ll find acres of gladed terrain, steep groomers, tight tree-lined trails and challenging bumps all blanketed in some of Canada’s best snow. Sun Peaks is a fun, family friendly snow resort offering a beautiful mountain community. Ski runs flow down from Sun Peaks’ three mountains, Tod Mountain, Sundance and Mount Morrisey, to the ski-in/ski-out village below. It is the second largest ski area in Canada with 4270 acres of skiable terrain spread over the three mountains, giving skiers and riders access to anything from deep steeps, long cruisers, glades and ten acres of terrain parks with distinct zones for all abilities. The four person Orient chairlift provides improved mountain and east village ski-in/ski-out access. Sun Peaks averages over 2000 hours of sunshine each year, providing many bluebird days and picture perfect views of the resort. There are many options for non-skiers to experience like dogsledding, tubing and ice fishing with a local guide.
Nestled in the beautiful Okanagan Valley above the town of Vernon, SilverStar is an easy one hour drive from Kelowna International Airport. All day skiing and snowboarding down the champagne powder trails is there for the taking with over 700 vertical metres and more than 3000 acres of incredible terrain. With two faces to choose from, one friendly and one difficult, there are endless options for every level of skier and snowboarder from beginner to advanced. The resort also boasts 16 kilometres of marked snowshoe trails, a Tube Town Adventure Park, outdoor skating on Brewer’s Pond and a fitness centre with rock-climbing wall. Off the slopes there is much to explore in the quaint village of SilverStar, which itself is a colourful collection of Victorian-styled buildings containing condos, shops and restaurants.
