Winter Park Resort Lifts (all ages)
When Winter Park Mountain first opened in 1940, guests paid $1 for a 1/2
mile rope tow and a handful of runs. Since then, Winter Park Mountain, the
heart and soul of the resort, has been a haven for family skiing with its
beautifully-groomed cruiser runs, terrain parks, halfpipe and a host of
popular learn-to-ski programs including Groswold's Discovery Park, a
$2-million, 20-acre learn-to-ski or ride area. Mary Jane, a legendary
social figure among the early railroaders and miners who settled in the
Fraser Valley, acquired the land at the base of the mountain in the late
1800's. Mary Jane Mountain first opened to skiers in 1976, and this once
closely-guarded local's secret has developed a worldwide reputation for
having some of the best bump skiing in North America. In addition, Vasquez
Ridge, Winter Park's third mountain, opened in 1986. Parsenn Bowl, a
wide-open, high-alpine bowl, first opened in 1992.
