About Zermatt

Zermatt is one of the most popular winter destinations worldwide. This internationally renowned resort is cosmopolitan and stylish, but has managed to retain its rustic charm with narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and chalets. There are no cars allowed in the village, all transport is either by horse drawn sleigh or electric taxis. The skiing in Zermatt is varied with an even balance of gentle and difficult slopes. The breathtaking black runs offer exhilarating powder skiing and off-piste terrain, while the more gentle slopes are wide and groomed to perfection. In 2020, Zermatt introduced the new Kumme lift.  This was the first fully automatic gondola in Switzerland, running from Tufternkehr at 2215 metres to the Unterrothorn at 3103 metres.
